Caleb Woods, Senior

CATEGORIES: Student Spotlights

Caleb Woods (he/him/his) is a Senior majoring in Public Relations in the Greenlee Journalism School at Iowa State. “I would like to work on the content creation or brand management teams of a hospital after I graduate from ISU.” As a student, Caleb has been involved in ISU Parliament, the Inter-Residence Hall Association, and the Greenlee Curriculum Committee.

“I have always been interested in understanding how and why people communicate in the ways that they do,” Caleb explained when asked what prompted him to add a COMST minor.

“I knew that having a COMST minor would give me the opportunity to take courses that would teach me about the different communication theories and styles,” says Caleb. “I also thought that a COMST minor would help me gain skills to further future PR campaigns I will be running.”

Caleb considered which minors might help him supplement his career goals, and saw Communication Studies as a way to improve the skills necessary to reach the broader community through public relations. “I plan on [using COMST to learn] the technical terms and methods to help provide my future company with the correct methods to reach our desired public.”

Although Caleb spends more of his time in his major courses, he also feels at home when he’s with COMST peers. “I love how involved we are with the other COMST majors and minors in our grade.”
